War Poem

*MP*

A thousand battles storm the sky,
A host of angels wake from sleep.
You triumph when the broken lie,
With blazing breathe they squirm and speak:
"Young fools with fire you may kill
And laugh to see our ghosts despair,
But listen as one voice we will
Haunt you 'til too much to bear"

Decay of Man

*MP*

Swim the Universe in a day.
Come with me to the moon,
The stars and sun.

What do you dream?
Do you question eternity in Gods?
Or Ghosts? Or the decay of Man?

Why the want of morning
When the light brings only
darkness?

Church Bells

The church bells rang with silent knell,
Silver pigeons rose in a cloud.
Sunset's fingers - a golden spell,
Tongueless whispers fell as a shroud.
Through stained glass, broken, incense flowed,
It's sombre scent crept in a mist.
Memories of the dead are showed -
Only in darkness they exist.

This was a challenge set by a friend - I was given the first line and told to carry on from there.

A Nautical Metaphor

I look down as life laps between my tiny toes;
A tide patiently waiting to carry me over the horizon.
I stand on this desolate beach, hammer in hand,
staring at a pile of wood.

This is how I am feeling today. My future awaits,
and I have all the tools in hand. If only I could
find a boat-building manual.

Death and the Letter 'D'

*MP*

Drink deep the dazzling day.
Dance to the delicious rhythm of life
As Death draws about you,
Unseen, cloaked in darkness.
